Pedram Dadgar

Who is Pedram Dadgar?

Pedram Dadgar, known on social media as “Mr. Pay”, is an entrepreneur from Frankfurt am Main and the founder of SENZA, a payment network operator for card terminals and online payments in Germany and Austria. He explains European payment developments daily from the merchant's point of view and advises companies on building sales organisations and growth.

On social networks he appears as “Mr. Pay” — his posts on Instagram and TikTok are published under that name.

Pedram Dadgar is an entrepreneur and sales strategist from Frankfurt am Main; on Instagram and TikTok he appears as “Mr. Pay”. As the founder of SENZA (senzapay.com) he runs a commercial payment network operator for card terminals and online payments in Germany and Austria, whose principle “Zahlen ohne Aber.” (paying without a catch) stands for fully disclosed pricing. Before that he built sales organisations in energy, retail and services; today, with Sales Tik, he develops sales structures for mid-sized companies. On pedram-dadgar.de he comments daily on news from European payments, from EU regulation to card scheme pricing to the sales tactics of providers. His standard: explain what a piece of news actually means for the merchant at the checkout.

What does SENZA stand for?

SENZA (senzapay.com) is a commercial payment network operator (Netzbetreiber) for card terminals and online payments in Germany and Austria. The guiding principle “Zahlen ohne Aber.” (paying with no ifs or buts) describes the business model: every cost component of card acceptance, from the merchant discount rate through the per-transaction fee to the terminal rental, is fully disclosed before a merchant signs. SENZA is operated by Sales Tik UG (haftungsbeschränkt), based in Frankfurt am Main.

What is a payment network operator?

A payment network operator connects the card terminal at the checkout with the banks and card schemes. It provides the terminal, forwards every payment for authorisation, settles the turnover and is the merchant’s point of contact. The Deutsche Kreditwirtschaft (German Banking Industry Committee) recognises only one role, “Netzbetreiber”, in its rulebook; in the market, a distinction has become established between technical network operation (data centre, routing) and commercial network operation (sales, contract, settlement, service). In Austria the term does not exist; there, the Wirtschaftskammer (Austrian Economic Chamber) and providers speak of acquirers and card networks.

What does this website do?

Every day the newsroom publishes two to four reports from European payments and from sales, each summarised in my own words, with the source and with an assessment: what does this mean for the merchant at the checkout, for the online shop, for a sales team? One sentence per report is expressly released for quotation. There is also a weekly commentary, a weekly briefing and guides on payments and sales. For newsrooms there is a press kit with photos, bio and quotes.
